One of the most critically acclaimed and award nominated French films in recent times is Welcome, the story of a Kurdish boy from Iraq who travels across Europe to be reunited with his girlfriend who emigrated to England. Upon his arrival in France, he is stopped by authorities from continuing his journey, so he sets his sights on swimming the English Channel to be with her.
