Your Say

This month's Your Say winner is Taria Cooper whose local Video Ezy is Mona Vale, NSW. She wrote her review on Alice in Wonderland.

Lightning may not strike twice, although falling down a rabbit hole evidently does...

Renowned film director Tim Burton (1990 ‘Edward Scissorhands' and 2005‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'), brings Lewis Carroll's infamous classics ‘Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' and ‘Through the Looking Glass" to the screen adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. We follow Alice as she embarks on another adventure reuniting with our favourite eccentric friends and foes from her childhood adventures.

Many years after her first encounter; nineteen year old Alice Kingsleigh (Mia Wasikowska) glimpses a peculiar creature in a blue waistcoat, curiously follows it and before she realizes has followed, plunging deep down into a rabbit hole for the second time. This is the gateway to the delights of the whimsical setting of "Underland." Alice is vital for the happiness of Underland's inhabitants; conquering the Red Queen and slay the Jabberwocky "Beware the Jabberwock". Ultimately on a self-quest to find her true destiny in all of the chaos ensued.

Enhancing the whole experience is the stunning cast, music, costumes and visual cinematography. The characters are wild and limitless and are portrayed by an array of accomplished cast, enticing us into the curious land, existing just beyond our reach; for example; the nonsensical; Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), the amusing; Tweedledee and Tweedledum (Matt Lucas), the kind; White Queen (Anne Hathaway), the illusive; Cheshire Cat (voiced by Stephen Fry) and the feared; Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter). No matter what age you are, the young and the old will be swept off their feet once these quirky and magical scenes come alive and your imagination goes for a ride.

It is without a doubt a film not to be missed, even the most avid Alice in Wonderland fan will be pleased with this sequel as it has stayed loyal to many of the elements that made the classic; the tale we know and love.

Congratulations, Taria! You've won a prize pack thanks to Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment including Alice in Wonderland mug, key ring, playing cards, mouse pads and a DVD/Blu-ray value pack.
