Synopsis: From producer Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) and director Neill Blomkamp comes a startlingly original science fiction thriller that "soars on the imagination of its creators" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone).   • I did Manage to sit through this movie, but unless your into sci-fi and aliens......Leave it alone, Not my style, Kids would love it though 2 stars, 1 of those movies to make your own opinion

  • Amazing film but almost turned it off in the first ten mins as the South African setting and actors had me worried that this was going to be a dodgey low budget affair - all I can say is just stick with it and you won't be disappointed. CGI sets a new benchmark in realism.

  • People who call District 9 'just a scfi-fi film' obviously didn't pay attention. District 9 is very smart sci-fi, but that's just the beginning; it's also a scathing social satire hidden inside a terrific action thriller teeming with gross aliens and regrettable inter-species conflict.

  • FANTASTIC! I loved this film and bought it straight away to own on DVD. I don't think it can be simply classified as a "sci-fi film" - certainly the CGI was amazing but I think people aren't paying close enough attention to the "human element" in the film and the parallels to the world we live in today (ie: refugees). The lead actor, Sharlto Copley, is great as an unlikely hero. Fave film of 2009!

  • I liked this movie a lot. Not your run of the mill Yank predictable movie which was good. Had a few good messages in the story too. Was quite a believable plot line.

  • The strangest film I have ever seen! Not my usual type of genre, but was oddly impressed. Take it for what it is and you won't be diappointed

  • Finally a different take on the Sci-Fi genre! I didn't get the slow start bit that I have heard from a number of people. I really liked this movie from start to finish. Sharlto Copley was a stand out throughout. Looking forward to any future editions.

  • I was in awe of this movie while watching it. Great characters, aliens included. Not like most of the aliens shown in movies that just screech and kill. These aliens seemed alive but out of control. I also found this film very amusing (south african reporter is hilarious). Must see!
